The Story of Fentons
Fenton Packaging Limited are a national packaging stockist and distributor, specialising in industrial containers for powders, granules, pastes and liquids.
The company was formed in 1945 as a manufacturer of lever lid tinplate cans to serve, in particular, the small and middle size user.
As the business grew, there were frequent requests for packaging items other than tinplate cans, and this led to the purchase and storage of items from other manufacturers, and began the move to what the company does today.
During the 1980's the company sold its can-making facilities, and concentrated on the efficient storage and distribution of a wide range of packaging. This move was recognised by Fenton's customers as very timely, as the costs of property and the increasing stockholding requirements for customers during a boom period, could be eliminated if someone else covered these areas, and gave a "just-in-time" service which at that time was seen as a very innovative approach in the 1980's.
Continued heavy investment during the 1990's in personnel, property, computerised stock systems, transport and stock holding, has enabled the company to grow and become the largest of its kind in the UK.
